A fellow brother in a monastery where Duncan MacLeod temporarily sought refuge in 1658, Kalas's intentions
proved to be anything but holy, as he had the habit of ambushing fellow Immortals leaving the monastery and
beheading them. This practice was stopped by Duncan MacLeod, who had him banished from the monastery and thus
ensured Kalas's eternal wrath upon him. Kalas next met Duncan MacLeod in 1920, seemingly a changed man, but
when he attempted to kill MacLeod's companion, MacLeod stopped him, and in the ensuing battle, MacLeod
destroyed Kalas's larynx, thus depriving Kalas of his beloved singing voice and further bringing his wrath
down upon the head of the Highlander. In the present day, Kalas sought to destroy all that was dear to
MacLeod, killing friends and stalking MacLeod until the Immortal Methos identified him as a murderer and had
him imprisoned. Months later, Kalas was freed by Amanda, who tried unsuccesfully to kill him. Thus freed,
Kalas continued his quest to destroy MacLeod, finally meeting him atop the Eiffel Tower, where MacLeod took
his head and his Quickening (which was magnified by the "world's biggest lightning rod" and which
caused a
major power outage in the city of Paris). Thus, Duncan conquered his archnemesis.
