Stringfellow Hawke is a brooding, cello-playing recluse, living in his scenaric cabin in the mountains –
with a priceless art collection, and with only his dog Tet for company - ever since his brother Saint John
went Missing In Action in the Vietnam War, never to be found.
When Airwolf, a hi-tech attack helicopter, equipped with cutting-edge on-board computer, surveillance and
radar systems, able to fly quicker than the fastest jets, and armed with awesome fire-power, is stolen
the head of "The Firm," Michael Coldsmith-Briggs (codename "Archangel"), calls upon ace
combat pilot Stringfellow Hawke to
bring back Airwolf, which Archangel's mysterious, top secret division of the CIA built.
Hawke eventually agrees to take the mission, aided by his only close friend, Dominic Santini, but once
Airwolf was recovered, Hawke
wasn't ready to turn it back over to the Firm just yet. Hiding it in a hollow mountain in the
middle of the desert, he refused to return the super-chopper until the Firm found solid information about his
MIA brother St. John, be he dead or alive.
Archangel, usually accompanied by his assistant Marella, would frequently call upon Hawke to fly Airwolf on
some mission of
national concern, occasionally throwing in a glimmer of hope regarding finding St. John good measure.
